About
Andrew Racknor is an award-winning saxophonist and percussionist based in London, Ontario. The recipient of scholarships from Jazz FM and Yamaha, he uses his background in Jazz Performance at Humber College to influence his unique and passionate approach to jazz, fusion, blues, and neo-soul music. Andrew strives to inspire others through his spirited improvisation, boundary-challenging compositions, and enthusiastic tutoring.
Andrew has both studied under and worked/performed with many legends and leaders of contemporary music, such as: Pat LaBarbara, Mark Promane, Alex Dean, Kirk MacDonald, Larnell Lewis, Shirantha Beddage, Jack DeJohnette, New York Voices, Steve Strongman, Mike Stern and more. He has performed playing the alto, soprano, and baritone saxophones, as well as the flute, harmonica, piano, kashakas, kalimba and ocarina.
Andrew has 5+ years of experience teaching saxophone, flute, percussion, and piano, as well as improvisational approach, rhythm, and theory to any musicians.
In addition to working as a sideman and soloist for a wide variety of projects and genres, Andrew is currently performing and composing with The Andrew Racknor Trio, Bodystorm, and The Hubert Orlowski Group.
